What are the most basic symptoms of diabetes?

January 31st, 2010 by admin

I’ve always had lots of sugar, and don’t seem to have symptoms of diabetes. How can I know if I have it?
Also, how do you know if you have bad blood? I ask because I’ve always ate unhealthy food, for like 10 years.

-frequent urination
-infections, cuts slow to heal (type2)
-frequent thirst
-frequent hunger
-fatigue
-bruise-like rash on your neck(mostly type 2)
-Breath that has a corn like odor to it
-Urine that has a strong odor
-blurred vision
-unexplained weight loss

Type 1 symptoms usually show up suddenly, while type 2 symptoms progressively get worse over time.

Some of the earlier symptoms of type 2 diabetes include frequent urination, excessive thirst and hunger, weight loss despite adequate food intake, and persistent fatigue. Later symptoms can include neuropathy and retinopathy, which manifest with pain in the feet, possible numbness and sores that are slow to heal, and with blurry vision or other visual disturbances.

The only way to diagnose diabetes is by blood test, so if you think you may have diabetes, you should contact your health care provider. Diabetes is usually diagnosed with a fasting blood glucose level of 126 mg/dL on two separate occasions, or a random glucose level of 200 mg/dL or more.

It is good that you are aware of your poor dietary habits. The next step is to work towards a healthier diet. Don’t try to change too many things at once, because that will only set you up for failure. Instead, make a list of all the unhealthy habits you have, and then come up with a healthy habit to replace the unhealthy one with. Next, go down the list and focus on each habit one at a time. For example, you may want to start by trying to eliminate all sodas you drink and replace them with water. Once you have done so successfully, tackle the next task. It usually takes about 21 days to develop a new habit or routine, so give yourself time and be gentle with yourself.

diabetes has different manifesttations, depending on which type of diabtes your contracted to
for type one, you might feel some generealized discomforts such as nausea, lost of weight, eye problems, and troubled memory, etc
A most characteristic of type one is the presence of a fruity scent of the mouth. that’s because of the excessive production of ketones in the body.
diabtes type two has pretty much the same manifestations as type one, except that the acetone breath is absent and the lost of weight less pronounced.

Like I said, if you wanna test if u’ve got diabetes, just smell ur breath. That’s the simplest way of finding out without doing a blood test.
