How can I make chocolate turtles for my diabetic grandpa?
My grandpa is diabetic, but he used to love those turtle chocolates with caramel and nuts. I would love to make him some for Christmas but I can’t seem to find a recipe online?
Use stevia as the sugar substitute because it is not genetically engineered garbage like all the other ones are and is a natural plant used as medicine in the Amazon. It won’t hurt the body.
Then use Carob as the chocolate substitute.
good luck to you

You can find sugar free chocolate turtles at most candy stores. Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory has some great ones. I’ve even seen a box at my local grocery store.
Making them yourself? Well, that would be very difficult. You would need sugar free caramel and chocolate, both of which are hard to find.
Buy the pre-made ones and put them in a gift basket along with some fresh fruit and nuts!
Your grandpa is very lucky to have someone as thoughtful as you and I’m sure he would be happy with any gift you decide on!

Splenda. Stay away from the pre-made chocolates. Look at the labels. It can contain a ton of sugar alcohol. Not only can it affect the blood sugar (albeit not as much as straight sugar), but it can also cause problems with the stomach, ie. gas, etc.

The problem is that caramel is slighty-burned sugar. So far, no one has been able to make caramel without sugar!

I got my dad Russel Stover Sugar free Pecan Turtles and they were soooo goood, I ended up getting myself some too. I seriously could hardly tell the difference and they weren’t as expensive as many other brands.
Here’s a site where it tells you how to locate some:

Epinions has a review of it:

And here are a few ways to get some:
(includes local stores that carry it)

All the best to you and your grandpa!
Nice of you to take such a personal concern.
You’re a great grandchild.
