Update – 3/16/2010:
This video is now almost 2 full years old. Thorwald is six now. We’re still using a medtronic Paradigm pump, and real-time sensors. Thanks to the pump and regular glucose control, we have yet to have a hypoglycemic seizure happen!

Since the founding of JDRF in 1970, the organization’s largest and most successful fundraising program, the Walk to Cure Diabetes, has raised over 90 million dollars to go towards Type 1 diabetes research. Through this video the Greater Dallas Chapter hopes to bring more awareness to how diabetes affects those that are faced with the trials and tribulations of having the disease. After champagne and wedding cake, my diabetic husband crashed
to the floor. As the ambulance pulled away, I made up my mind to
wage war on diabetes.
Only after years of research am I now making my findings

Even though diabetes ran in my family, I’d never given it much thought. Both my grandmother and my cousin had diabetes… but the disease had never hit home for me.
But that all changed on my wedding night. I knew my husband had diabetes, but I didn’t realize how serious the disease could be.
Until I Watched His Eyes Roll Up Into The Back Of His Head
On the most important night of my life, my husband crashed to the floor. Turns out, he had a bit too much cake and champagne and that caused his glucose levels to spike.
